New for 2025: Why We Chose Webscorer to Power a Smarter, Safer Tokyo Yamathon

For 2025, we’re excited to announce a major upgrade to how we run the Tokyo Yamathon:

We’ve selected Webscorer as our new event management and timing partner — replacing previous tools in favor of a platform that gives us more control, better flexibility, and a safer experience for all participants.

Whether you’re walking the full loop, tackling the Half Yamathon, or cheering on your team, you’ll soon see why this change matters.

Why the Change?

Organizing an event as dynamic as the Tokyo Yamathon — across 30 stations and hundreds

of teams — demands more than just a basic registration tool. After years of using more limited systems, we’ve outgrown them. We needed something more responsive, more robust, and far more participant-friendly.

That’s why we’ve moved to Webscorer.

What Is Webscorer?

Webscorer is a global leader in race timing and event management, used for everything from ultra-marathons in the Rockies to community walkathons around the world. Their platform offers live timing, registration, participant tracking, and real-time updates — all in one place.

For an event like ours, where safety, visibility, and flexibility matter, it’s a perfect match.

What Webscorer Brings to the Yamathon

1. Flexible, Participant-Centered Registration

No more rigid forms or last-minute panic when a teammate can’t make it. Webscorer allows teams to update their details directly, including changes to team names, members, or course type (full or half). You’re in control — and we’re still able to keep everything organized and accurate on our side.

2. Real-Time Timing & Progress Updates

While the Yamathon isn’t a race, many participants enjoy tracking their walk and hitting personal goals. With Webscorer, we can now offer real-time start and finish data, optional checkpoint logging, and a smoother overall timing experience. You’ll know when you started, how long you walked, and when you crossed that finish line — with live updates available.

3. Better Course Oversight & Participant Visibility

Webscorer helps us track who’s on the course in real time via GPS tracking— a major upgrade that improves our ability to respond to issues, keep things running smoothly, and check in on teams if needed. This is especially important for Half Yamathon teams or families walking with children.

4. Safer, Smarter Crowd and Traffic Flow

By understanding where participants are along the course, we can prevent congestion in high-traffic areas and respond to issues quickly. That means a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone — whether you’re walking, spectating, or volunteering.

What It Means for You

By switching to Webscorer, we’re making it easier for you to:

  • Register and update your team with confidence

  • Track your time and enjoy live updates

  • Walk knowing your team’s progress is visible and supported

  • Enjoy a safer, more organized experience on event day

It’s a behind-the-scenes change that brings front-line benefits.

A More Connected Tokyo Yamathon Experience

This move isn’t just about technology — it’s about giving every participant, a better experience. With Webscorer, we’re better equipped to grow, support our impact partners, and deliver an event that reflects the energy and care of the Yamathon community.

So get ready to walk — with a smarter system and a stronger team behind you.
