The Tokyo Yamathon brings together hundreds of teams for a unique walking challenge around Tokyo’s Yamanote Line. With so many people participating, our top priority is safety, organization, and supporting teams throughout the event. To help achieve this, we are promoting the use of the Webscorer app for GPS team tracking.
Why Use the Webscorer App?
The Webscorer app enables our event staff to view the approximate location of each team leader (account manager) in real time. This is not for timing or route enforcement. The sole purpose is to provide location visibility for operational support, and to help team supporters and family members follow your progress.
For safety: Event staff can quickly respond if you need assistance.
For supporters and family: They can check your progress during the event.
For efficient event management: We can ensure all teams are safe and accounted for throughout the day, and prepare for arrival at finish points.
Is It Mandatory?
No. GPS tracking with Webscorer is not mandatory, but we strongly request that every team leader (account manager) uses the app for the benefit of all participants and staff. This simple step makes the event safer and easier for everyone.

Running in Background: You do not need to enable background operation. However, do not close (swipe up) the app after you start tracking. You can turn off your phone’s screen or use standby/sleep mode—location tracking will continue as long as the app is left running.
Cellular Data: The phone’s cellular data must be turned on during the event, so GPS pings can be sent every five minutes.
Tip: If you close the app completely (swipe up), tracking will stop. Please keep the app open for the entire event.
Device and Battery Management Tips
Only the team leader (account manager) needs to use the Webscorer app.
Other team members should use Google Maps or another map app for navigation to stations and for photos, to save battery life.
Charge your phone fully before the event.
Bring a portable charger (power bank).
Lower your screen brightness and close any unnecessary apps.
Avoid streaming video or running multiple apps at the same time during the event.
Important Reminders
